Husband & wife team Matt and Kay Hamilton-Crook launched The Barn at Alswick in 2017 with the wish to provide a really personal approach to hosting weddings.
So many venues become a conveyor-belt of events, where weddings become less personal, less distinctive somehow. We saw an opportunity to offer something different, a far more individual experience, where we don’t have to abide by a set format or strict rules
In keeping with offering an exceptional experience, The Barn also has access to the huge stunning private gardens of Alswick Hall, with endless hidden gems it gives couples the opportunity to make their wedding photography unique and special to their day.
We love getting to know the couples we work with, understanding their personalities and bringing their visions to fruition. We feel very honoured to be part of their ‘best day ever’.
The Barn prides itself on offering a simple pricing structure to allow couples to maintain control over the all-important wedding budget. With only two mandatory elements required from the Barn (venue hire and drinks packages) everything else is the couple’s choice.
We know weddings are expensive and keeping on budget whilst still achieving your dream day can be tough, so we want to ensure that our couples know their true venue costs upfront.

With a small dedicated team of Event Planners, The Barn at Alswick walk their couples through the planning process and ensuring their day runs seamlessly allowing them to simply focus on enjoying their day.

Meet the Team
Matt
With a background in corporate Events and initially Kay’s boss, the tables quickly turned once they were married! Matt now oversees all events to make sure they are running smoothly and is our general handy man for everything at the Barn!
Kay
With a passion for running events and over 20 years in the industry under her belt, Alswick is the second venue Kay has run. With a love of planning and coordinating, Kay has a vision and drive to make sure every event is a successful one! She has a keen eye for perfection and absolutely loves seeing her visions and ideas come to life.
Ellie
Ellie began her journey at the Barn in 2017, just before we held our first wedding. Using her time to gain experience shadowing Kay on many different events and finishing her studies, she quickly immersed herself into everything and became a solid member of the team. A few years down the line and Ellie is now Head of Weddings!
Claire
Claire has worked on and off for Kay and Matt for over 10 years. She has a keen eye for perfection and is always keeping us on our toes! Claire assists with the general running of events and is always making sure the Barn and business are running at their best.
Courtney
Courtney is the newest member of the Alswick family. She began working with us in May 2023 and has quickly settled into her new role of managing our social media and marketing. We have also been putting Courtney through her paces on a wedding day and lending a hand with all the preparations leading up to them.
